Our Crisis Intervention Center (CIC)—the first in Northwest Kansas—will be a crucial resource for people facing mental health and substance use emergencies.
Too often, they’re taken to emergency rooms that can’t provide the specialized care they need. Or worse, they end up in jail because there’s no appropriate alternative. The CIC will change that, offering immediate stabilization, treatment, and support for people in crisis in a safe, respectful, therapeutic environment.
Meeting an Urgent, Unmet Need
Mental illness and substance use issues in our region have skyrocketed in recent years. Today, Northwest Kansas has one of the highest suicide rates in the state but no adult psychiatric hospital to provide the care people need to stabilize and recover. This isn’t just a mental health issue—it’s a community-wide crisis that affects us all.
